Shade and ornamental trees/shrubs can be greatly improved through fertilizing by deep root injection.
Many of us are aware of the need for fertilizing are lawn and garden, but forget that trees/shrubs also benefit from fertilization.
Trees/shrubs require a special slow release fertilizer applied directly into the root zone area. This is done using a liquid fertilizer in a pressurized system. Smaller trees/shrubs will become healthier and more resistant to disease and insect damage when they receive beneficial nutrients through root feeding.
A single application to your trees/shrubs each year will maximize their health.
The best time to apply a deep root feeding to your trees/shrubs is in the fall or early spring. Trees/shrubs are usually not fertilized in the summer unless injury or defoliation has occurred.
Flowering crab trees should be sprayed in the spring to help prevent Apple Scab. Apple Scab causes the leaves to discolor and fall from the tree. This condition weakens the tree making it more susceptible for other diseases.
